Anthropic Raises $13 Billion at $183 Billion Valuation

Anthropic is a leading artificial intelligence startup specializing in large language models and other AI systems. Known for its focus on AI safety and ethics, its mission is to build AI that is reliable, interpretable, and beneficial to humanity. Anthropic’s flagship product, Claude, is a family of AI assistants designed to be helpful, honest, and harmless, embodying the organization’s core values.

Anthropic has completed a $13 billion Series F round led by ICONIQ, reaching a $183 billion post-money valuation. Co-led by Fidelity Management & Research Company and Lightspeed Venture Partners, the round also saw significant participation from Altimeter, Baillie Gifford, affiliated funds of BlackRock, Blackstone, and Coatue.

Anthropic, headquartered in San Francisco, California, United States, was founded in 2021 by Dario Amodei, Daniela Amodei, Jack Clark, Jared Kaplan, Sam McCandlish, and Tom Brown. In 2023, the company joined the unicorn club. “From Fortune 500 companies to AI-native startups, our customers rely on Anthropic’s frontier models and platform products for their most important, mission-critical work,” said Krishna Rao, Chief Financial Officer of Anthropic. “We are seeing exponential growth in demand across our entire customer base. This financing demonstrates investors’ extraordinary confidence in our financial performance and the strength of their collaboration with us to continue fueling our unprecedented growth.”
