Mahindra in Talks to Raise $605 Million

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd is an Indian multinational automotive manufacturing corporation. The company produces a wide range of sport utility vehicles, trucks, and farm tractors, and is active in the domestic and international markets.

Mahindra & Mahindra is currently engaged in advanced negotiations with British International Investment (BII) and other investors to secure funding of up to $605 million for its electric vehicles division. If the negotiations regarding Mahindra Electric Automobile are successful, this would mark BII’s second investment round in the Indian conglomerate. The deal is expected to value the company’s EV subsidiary 10-15 percent higher than the previous funding round.

M&M was founded as a steel trading company in 1945 in Ludhiana as Mahindra & Mohammed by brothers Kailash Chandra Mahindra and Jagdish Chandra Mahindra along with Malik Ghulam Muhammad. Currently, Mahindra intends to introduce five new EV models between April and October 2025. The automaker anticipates that e-SUVs will constitute 20-30 percent of its overall SUV portfolio, amounting to about 200,000 units in volume.
