Animoca Brands Aims to Raise $1 Billion at $5.9 Billion Valuation

Animoca Brands is one of the global leaders in digital entertainment, blockchain, and gamification that works to advance digital property rights and contribute to the establishment of the open metaverse. The company delivers digital property rights to gamers and Internet users by creating a new asset class, play-to-earn economies, and equitable digital framework contributing to the building of the open metaverse.

Animoca Brands is going to raise $1 billion for its metaverse and web3 fund in the first quarter of 2023.  The company is reported to be already in talks with potential investors and plans to use the funds to invest in blockchain and metaverse startups.

Animoca Brands, Hong Kong-headquartered company, was founded in 2014 by Yat Siu and David Kim. The company has a large portfolio of over 380 investments. “We had initially looked at a target of $1 billion, whether it goes upsized or downsized we don’t know yet,” said Yat Siu, Animoca Brands executive chairman.
