GoStudent Raises $340 Million at $1.7 Billion Valuation

GoStudent is an EdTech company that develops an online teaching and tutoring platform. It provides primary, secondary, and college-aged students with video-based one-to-one tuition for more than 20 subjects.

The Series C funding round was led by Prosus. Among other participants were such investors as Deutsche Telekom, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Tencent, Dragoneer, Left Lane Capital, and Coatue Management. The new investments are planned to be used for international expansion, product expansion, and the market share increase.

GoStudent, Austria, was founded by Felix Ohswald, Ferdinand von Hagen, Gregor Muller in 2016. Last year the company expanded to 16 countries, among them are Mexico and Canada. Moreover, GoStudent opened 19 international offices. This year it plans to enter 6 more markets in the US, MENA, and Asia-Pacific region. The idea was born after Felix Ohswald and Gregor Müller established WhatsApp chat for homework help. As of now, the company team consists of more than 600 employees. GoStudent receives more than 400 000 tutoring units each month from more than 15 000 customers.
