Airwallex is a company that provides digital payment solutions for businesses. The company assists them in making transactions, collect and pay money around the world. The main idea is to help businesses to grow without any limits.
The new funding round Series E was led by Lone Pine Capital. Along with them new backers – G Squared, Vetamer Capital Management participated. As well as previous investors such as 1835i Ventures (formerly ANZi), DST Global, Salesforce Ventures, and Sequoia Capital China.
Airwallex was founded in Melbourne in 2015 by Jack Zhang, Jacob Dai, Lucy Yueting Liu, Max Li. The company’s strategy is vertically integrated. It consists of two parts. The first one is establishing infrastructure for the business banking services. The second is the creation of a set of APIs to give the companies the possibility to provide services directly to their clients without developing their services. Airwallex has already developed 50 bank integrations in more than 90 countries. “We want to own the whole ecosystem,” Jack Zhang said, “We want to be like the Apple of business finance.”
